China Refining and Smelting Association

Established in 1982, the China Refining and Smelting Association (CRSA) is a non-governmental research organization dedicated to serving the interests of refining and smelting industry in China. It is sponsored by the China Metallurgical Industry Corporation, China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and the China Coal Industry Association. It is a unique organization of its kind because it has a broad range of members from the government, industry and academia, and it serves an important bridge between the members and consignors in the refining and smelting industry in China.

The CRSA’s mission is to promote the development of the refining and smelting industry in China by providing new ideas, technologies and professional services. CRSA collaborates with enterprises, government departments and research organizations in the industry to advance research and development, policy formulation and promote exchanges and cooperation. It also issues relevant industry standard regulations and technical guides.

The CRSA has set up several research centers and departments to carry out research activities such as production management, technical standards, processes, equipment technologies, materials innovation and operation & maintenance. It regularly holds industry seminars and symposiums to share experiences and promote communications. The CRSA has recognized several “Refining & Smelting Industry Award” winners for their outstanding contribution in the industry.

The CRSA sponsors a large number of industry-wide activities and programs, such as annual conferences and symposiums, as well as professional training and capacity-building workshops for the members. It also regularly publishes “China Refining and Smelting Report” and “China Refining and Smelting Newsletter”. It maintains close relationships with specialized assosiations in other countries and regions such as the European Smelting and Refining Council, the Asia-Pacific Smelting and Refining Council and KITA (Korea International Trade Association).

In pursuit of its mission, the CRSA strives to build a modern Chinese refining and smelting industry by combining traditional experience with advanced technologies to better meet the needs of developing markets. The CRSA also endeavors to raise the awareness of the health and safety of workers and communities in the industry, both in China and abroad, by promoting the highest levels of quality and production standards.

The CRSA provides a platform for its members to exchange information, and to collaborate and form joint ventures in order to promote the continuous improvement of production standards, technology, and innovation. The CRSA seeks to become a global voice for the Chinese refining and smelting industry, and a major source for updated information and technology. ˙The vision and persistence of the CRSA continues to drive the industry and meet the challenges of the changing times.
