Metallurgical Industry Investigation and Research Institute of Ministry of Metallurgical Industry
Metallurgical Industry Investigation and Research Institute of Ministry of Metallurgical Industry (MIIRI) was established in 1953. Since its establishment, it is mainly responsible for important scientific research in the field of metallurgical engineering and technology, and has been playing an important role in promoting the development of Chinas metallurgical industry.
MIIRI is a key research institute commissioned by the China Iron and Steel Association. It is responsible for developing new materials and processes, researching science and technology identified by the State Council, and exploring emerging trends and innovative technologies in the metallurgical industry. It is also responsible for basic scientific research and technical research for the iron and steel industry and for providing technical guidance for enterprises.
The main focus of MIIRI is the study of iron and steel industry. It carries out basic and applied research in areas such as iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, new energy materials and non-metallic materials. The research conducted by MIIRI covers both cutting-edge and conventional technologies and so where possible, it ensures that its research aligns with national industrial policies.
MIIRI is jointly managed by the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and China Iron and Steel Association. It is actively engaged in cooperation with domestic universities, research institutes and high-tech enterprises to develop new products and improve technologies and processes. MIIRI also participates in international cooperation and exchanges, and has established close links with overseas metallurgical research institutes.
Among its achievements, MIIRI has participated in many key projects in the iron and steel industry, such as the smelting and processing of steel strips, the manufacture of high-strength and energy-saving steels, the study of new energy materials, and the research and development of new processes for the production of high-end composite materials.
In recent years, MIIRI has collaborated with other major national research institutions to develop new materials, new process and equipment, and new technology. Some of the new materials, including powder metallurgy alloys, powder metallurgy casts and new types of structural alloys, are being widely used in the metallurgical manufacturing industry.
The Metallurgical Industry Investigation and Research Institute of Ministry of Metallurgical Industry has played an important role in the development of Chinas metallurgical industry. With its cutting-edge research and cooperation with various international research institutes, MIIRI is an essential pillar of the national industrial policies and technological innovation in the iron and steel industry.
