Vibration Measurement and Evaluation Method of GB10889-89 Pump

Abstract

Measuring and evaluating the vibration performance of the pumps is the most important way to inspect the condition of the pump and to troubleshoot. This article will introduce the measurement and evaluation methods of vibration performance of GB10889-89 pumps. This method enables accurate measurement of the vibration of the pump and helps in the timely detection of faults and pump failure.

1. Introduction

Pumps are a necessary part of each industry and it is important to check their condition regularly. Vibration is the most important parameter in pump condition monitoring. Vibration is the relative movement between two contact points (most often in the form of oscillation) in a mechanical system. When the parts within a pump deform, contract, vibrate, it can cause excessive vibrations within the pump, which can cause damage and eventual failure if not controlled. It is, therefore, important to measure the vibration parameters of the pump and to evaluate it to ensure proper condition of the pump. The measurement and evaluation methods of vibration performance of GB10889-89 pumps will be discussed in this paper.

2. Vibration Measurement

The GB10889-89 pump standard defines the vibration measurement methods and parameters. The position of the sensors to measure the vibration level of the pump must be in accordance with the requirements set by the standard. Measurement of vibration should be made at the bearing locations (shaft, bearing, motor) and the vibration velocity described in the standard should be measured using a vibration transducer. The typical test speed of the pump should be within the range indicated in the standard or within the design range of the pump.

The speed and frequency of the vibration are two essential parameters that must be measured for the purpose of evaluating the performance of the pump. The speed and frequency of the pump should be measured according to GB10889-89 standard requirements for each type of pump.

3. Vibration Evaluation

The evaluation of the vibration performance of the pump should be done in accordance with the requirements of the GB10889-89 standard. The vibration level at the bearing location should be monitored regularly according to the frequency limit requirement in the standard. The vibration levels of the pump can be evaluated in terms of frequency and speed as below:

a) Frequency: The allowable frequency limit should not exceed the requirement in the standard. The frequency level should not exceed 25Hz for pumps with rated power of 0.12~11kW. The frequency level should not exceed 45Hz for pumps with rated power over 11kW.

b) Speed: The allowable speed limits should not exceed the requirements set in the standard. The allowable speed limits should be less than 0.7 m/s for pumps with rated power of 0.12~7.5kW and less than 0.2m/s for pumps with rated power over 7.5kW.

4. Conclusion

Vibration is an essential parameter for evaluating the performance of pumps. The measurement and evaluation of vibration performance of GB10889-89 pumps should be done in accordance with the requirements set by the standard. This method enables accurate measurement of the vibration of the pump and helps in the timely detection of faults and pump failure.
