EN 10132-4 Cold rolled narrow steel strip for heat treatment - Technical delivery conditions - Part 4: Spring steels and other applications
1 Introduction
EN 10132-4 provides requirements for cold rolled narrow steel strip for heat treatment. This part applies to the delivery of spring steel strip and strips of other applications with specific requirements. This part specifically addresses the requirements that must be met when delivering cold rolled narrow steel strips in the spring steel and other applications.
2 Scope
This document covers the requirements for cold rolled narrow steel strip in spring steel and other applications intended for heat treatment.
Non-alloy and alloy spring steels and their corresponding chemical composition and mechanical properties are detailed in Table 1.
The general requirements for the delivery of chrome vanadium (C-V) and Chrome Silicon (C-Si) steel are also covered in this document. In the case of C-V steel, the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the delivery should comply with the specifications of EN 10270-1 or EN 10270-2.
Clad strips are not covered by this document.
3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Cold rolled narrow steel strip
Steel strip produced from hot rolled steel strip by cold reduction, usually to a nominal thickness of 0,4 mm to 3,0 mm
3.2
Hardened and tempered state
State of steel after heat treatment, with a combination of increased hardness and increased toughness
3.3
Spring steel
Non-alloy or alloy steel strip with a high level of hardenability and increased mechanical properties in the hardened and tempered state
4 Requirements
4.1 Mechanical Properties
The mechanical properties for the delivery of spring steel are detailed in Table 1.
4.2 Chemical Composition
The chemical composition of the delivery should comply with the following requirements:
• For carbon and alloy steel grades, the requirements of EN 10132-2 should be met.
• For chrome vanadium (C-V) steel, the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the delivery should comply with the specifications of EN 10270-1 or EN 10270-2.
• For chrome silicon (C-Si) steel, the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the delivery should comply with the specifications of EN 10270-3.
4.3 Delivery Conditions
Delivery of spring steel should be in the condition as specified in the delivery document.
5 Test Reports
The test reports should be in accordance with the requirements detailed in EN 10132-2.
The test reports should include the following information:
• Chemical composition
• Mechanical properties
• delivery condition
6 Markings
The marking of the product should include the following information:
• Manufacturer’s name and post code
• EN 10132-4
• Type of product, grade and condition
• Reference to the table from which the mechanical properties were taken.
