Russian tool steel grade Gost Steels are high-quality alloys specifically made for use in various tools and industrial machinery. They are designed for superior corrosion resistance, strength and abrasive wear resistance and are among the most commonly used steels in the world.

Russian tool steels are classified into two main categories, Gost and Gost-K. Gost steel is by far the more well-known of the two. Gost tool steel consists of a variety of different grades, all of which are designed for specific use in various tools and machinery. Gost steels are well-known for their superior hardness, wear resistance, strength and toughness. Gost grades are often used for cutting tools, chisels, hammers and knives, among other applications.

Gost-K steel, on the other hand, is a much less popular option. Gost-K steel is used mainly for specialty tooling applications and is much less common than Gost steel. It is typically used for highly specialised applications, such as tooling for electric motors, generator rotors and stators, and roller bearings.

Unlike other tool steels, the Gost and Gost-K grades are often grouped into two separate categories. The first group is the lower hardness grade steels, which have a hardness of around 200HB. The second group contains steels from the H10 to H20 range, which are considered the highest-grade tool steels available.

There are numerous different grades of Gost and Gost-K steel available, each designed for specific uses. The Gost grades are generally divided into three categories, depending on their mechanical properties. The low-grade steels have a hardness of approximately 200HB and are primarily used for cutting tools, knives and hammers. The medium grade steels are slightly harder and are mostly used for industrial ball bearings and specialised parts. Finally, the high grade steels have a hardness of up to 800HB and are the strongest steels available.

Gost and Gost-K steel are widely renowned for their excellent performance. They are designed to meet the most demanding requirements in terms of strength, toughness and wear resistance. Both Gost and Gost-K steels are highly sought after in the world of engineering and tooling, as they are reliable and durable tools for industrial and consumer applications.
