Inspection and Adjustment of Ignition System
The ignition system includes all components involved in the production of ignition, such as spark plugs, ignition coils, igniters and distributors. In order to ensure the normal full-load operation and low fuel consumption of the engine, it is necessary to regularly check and adjust the ignition system.
1. Direct-acting ignition system
This ignition system is mainly composed of ignition coil, spark plug, triggering element and distributor. At idle, the ignition coil has a very high primary and low secondary voltage, and when in full load condition, the voltage of the primary and secondary sides of the ignition coil is relatively low. On the basis of appropriate voltage, the spark plug releases symmetry and great intensity electric spark, which meets the requirements of fuel burning in whole speed range. The inspection and adjustment of the direct-acting ignition system mainly includes the following requirements.
1.1 Ignition coil
Use an ignition tester to measure the output voltage, whether there is vibration or shaking phenomenon, and whether all the wiring connectors are tight. Generally, the no-load voltage of the direct-acting ignition system is about 12-20V. A voltage lower than this value indicates that the winding loop of the ignition coil is in bad condition, the insulation of the coil is aging, or that the primary or secondary circuit is short-circuited.
1.2 Spark plug
It is necessary to check whether the gap between the center electrode and the side electrode of the spark plug is consistent, and according to the gap required in the specification position of the spark plug, adjust the precise gap of the spark plug. In normal condition, the spark gap is 0.8-1.2mm.
1.3 Distribution mechanism
Check the distribution mechanism, mainly to check the gap between the contact points and their contact bounce. The gap between the two contact points is generally 0.35-0.45mm, and the contact bounce is generally between 0.15-0.30mm. All wiring connectors should be tightened. Clean the contacts to ensure good contact.
2. Indirect-acting ignition system
This type of ignition system mainly includes carburetor, ignition coil, spark plug, ignition control unit and ignition band. This type of ignition system has higher working accuracy and is a very advanced ignition system. The following are the inspection and adjustment requirements for this type of ignition system.
2.1 Ignition control unit
Check the time contact gap of the ignition control unit according to the instructions. Generally, the advance angle of the contact gap is 8-18 °.
2.2 Carburetor
Measure the voltage of the carburetor, whether there is vibration or shock, and whether the connections are tight. Under normal conditions, the voltage of this type of carburetor is about 4-5V.
2.3 Ignition coil
Use an ignition tester to measure the output voltage, whether there is vibration or shaking phenomenon, and whether all the wiring connectors are tight. Generally, the no-load voltage of the indirect-acting ignition system is about 16-20V. A voltage lower than this value indicates that the winding loop of the ignition coil is in bad condition, the insulation of the coil is aging, or that the primary or secondary circuit is short-circuited.
2.4 Spark plug
Check whether the gap between the center electrode and the side electrode of the spark plug is consistent, and adjust the precise gap of the spark plug according to the gap required in the specification position of the spark plug. In normal condition, the spark gap is 0.8-1.2mm.
2.5 Ignition belt
Check the tightness of the timing belt, whether there is vibration or shock, and whether it is broken or off track.
Regularly checking and adjusting the components of the ignition system is very important to ensure the normal full-load and low-fuel-consumption operation of the engine. When checking and adjusting the ignition system, the requirements of the operating manual must be strictly followed and the voltage should be appropriately adjusted to the normal value.
