Henan Coal Chemical Industry
Henan is the most populous and economically developed province in China. The production of coal is one of its major economic activities. Henan Coal Chemical Industry has developed rapidly in recent years, due to the abundance of coal resources and the government’s support for the industry.
Henan Coal Chemical Industry has developed rapidly in several aspects. Firstly, the construction of Henan coal-chemical projects has increased rapidly. Up to 2013, there are over 50 coal chemical projects in Henan. Currently, there are 15 new projects being built, such as the Huaneng Henan Coal Chemical Industry Park and the Pengsha Coal Chemical Industry Park. The Centers for Coal Conversion Processing and Utilization and the Henan Coal to Methanol Center are also under construction. These projects are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2014.
In addition, Henan Coal Chemical Industry has made great progress in terms of the localization of its technology. To date, Henan has set up 22 independent technological research and production lines. The “three bests” technologies of coal blowing, coal gasification, and liquid gasification are all locally developed in Henan. Besides, the production of coal derivative products has significantly increased. Currently, there are more than 20 projects producing coal derivatives such as coal-based methanol and coal oil.
Thirdly,Henan Coal Chemical Industry is closely focusing on its causes of exploitation. Currently, there are seven causes of exploitation being studied in Henan. Those are deep processing techniques, renewable energy utilization techniques, utilization of low-sulfur coal resources, utilization of coal bed boilers, utilization of coal mine wastewater, utilization of swamp coal resources, and the development of coal-to-liquids.
Fourthly, the environment protection is also closely related to the development of Henan Coal Chemical Industry. The province has proposed the “Construction of Environmental-Friendly Henan Coal Chemical Industry” 20-year plan for its coal chemical industry. In order to significantly reduce the emissions of pollutants, Henan will gradually adopt the most advanced technologies.
Finally, in order to promote the sustainable development of Henan Coal Chemical Industry,Henan will continue to introduce new policies and regulations, further strengthen its investment, and form a comprehensive regional coal-chemical integration platform. Besides,Henan will accelerate the construction of “coal-electricity-gas-heat-chemical” industry bases. At the same time, it will also support the development of coal-chemical circular economy.
