China is one of the worlds largest producers of wind power and is making major strides towards becoming a world leader in the area. In recent years, China has become the worlds leading manufacturer of both onshore and offshore wind turbines, the major technology of wind power generation. At the same time, China has been actively developing clean energy sources, such as wind and solar power, in order to reduce emissions and meet its climate goals.

The Chinese government has placed a great deal of emphasis on the development of renewable energy sources in recent years. In 2017, the Chinese government announced its intention to invest 2.5 trillion yuan (roughly $364 billion) in renewable energy by 2020. This is part of Chinas larger goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. This investment is expected to help China increase its total power generated from renewable sources from 15 percent in 2015 to 20 percent by 2020. Wind power is a key component of this plan, with the central government targeting an installed wind capacity of over 200GW.

Most of Chinas wind power is generated using onshore wind turbines. These are the most conventional type of wind turbine and have the ability to capture the energy from the wind and convert it into electricity. Onshore turbines are typically 3-4MW in size and can generate enough electricity to power several households. China has also developed larger turbines of up to 7MW, which are becoming increasingly popular in Chinas wind power development.

Offshore wind power is also being developed in China. These turbines are built in the sea, allowing them to take advantage of the strong winds that blow offshore. For this reason, offshore turbines often have higher capacity than onshore turbines and can generate more electricity. China is currently building several large-scale offshore wind farms, which are expected to come online in the near future.

In order to meet its goal of producing more electricity from wind power, China has undertaken major initiatives. These include investment in research and development of more efficient wind turbines, as well as more advanced methods of wind power generation. China is also increasing its wind power output through the construction of large wind farms, which are expected to generate enough power to rival that of conventional power plants. Additionally, China is also planning to expand its installed wind capacity in order to meet demand.

As China continues to invest in wind power, it is expected to play a major role in tacking climate change. This is because wind power produces no emissions, making it an attractive alternative to traditional sources of electricity production. By utilizing renewable energy sources such as wind power, China can reduce its carbon footprint and lead the world in a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
