China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation, Geological Research Institute of Mineral Resources (the “Research Institute”) is a research institute under the direct administration of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. It is responsible for the geological exploration, geological survey and research on geology, mineral resources and environment in China’s territory, as well as to serve Chinas non-ferrous metal industry. The Research Institute is a professional institution of mineral deposit investigation & exploitation and technical services, integral in prospecting & exploration and mineral resources development of China’s non-ferrous minerals.
The Research Institute has four research facilities which are located in Beijing, Shenyang, Kunming and Lanzhou, covering a wide range of research activities from mineral exploration and evaluation to ore-dressing and environmental protection. It has an expert team composed mainly of senior researchers and supervisors of non-ferrous minerals and well-trained technicians and engineers. The experts are skillful in mineral resources evaluation, prospecting & exploration, surface and subsurface geology, geophysics and geochemistry exploration, engineering development, ore dressing and the expertise of genetic mineralogy and related theories. They are also experienced in mineral resources management and engineering consultation.
The Research Institute has set up a nation-wide geological survey network, responsible for the exploration and development of minerals, the collection of information and scientific research, so as to comprehensively analyze and assess the geological conditions and mineral resources potential of the area. The geological survey teams are spread all over Chinas major mineral resources provinces and municipalities. Up till now, the Research Institute has conducted geological surveys of over 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, and has made great contribution in the assessment and development of Chinas mineral resources.
The Research Institute has tremendous knowledge and experience in field work of mineral exploration, mineral resources evaluation, and ore-dressing techniques. It has long been engaged in field work of non-ferrous metal deposits, over 20 mineral resources projects of which have been commercialized. Moreover, the Research Institute has undertaken many projects of mine rehabilitation and environment governance, contributing much to the safety and sustainable development of Chinas mining industry.
In addition to being engaged in scientific research, the Research Institute also helps to carry out contract projects for exploiting metal mines, evaluating and reassessing mineral resources, establishing and updating mine plans, preparing technical documents for prospecting & exploration, ore dressing, etc. The Research Institute has established long-term cooperation relations with several non-ferrous metal mines, actively offering high-quality professional services.
The Research Institute adheres to the scientific mission of “Establish scientific principles, follow technical methods, and make contributions to industry technologies”, in order to provide reliable scientific support to Chinas mineral resources evaluation and exploitation, and sustainable development.
For years, the Research Institute has been dedicated to the safe and sustainable development of Chinas non-ferrous metal industry. It has actively explored the reserves of mineral resources and technological approaches in the industry, according to the special characteristics of the industry, enabling it to make a great contribution to the sustainable development of China’s non-ferrous metal industry and benefiting the social and economic progress of China.
