What are Nickel and Nickel Alloy Welding Rods?

Nickel and nickel alloy welding rods, also known as spooled wire, are electrodes that provide electricity to a wire feed welding process. When electricity flows through the welding rod, it creates an electric arc, allowing the wire to become molten and fuse together. Depending on the task and the conditions, a selection of rods made from different materials, alloys, compositions and sizes can be chosen for different mild, stainless and alloy steel welding jobs.

Finally, Nickel 555 rods feature a high-alloy content and an A5.14 classification, rendering them capable of withstanding much higher temperatures than Nickel 200 rods. They are recommended for use with temperatures between minus 250 and plus 1200 Celsius.

When working with nickel and nickel alloy welding rods, it is important to make sure that the welding task and the rods chosen are suitable for one another. For example, certain rods will require certain heat ranges.
