Introduction of 4J42K Alloy Cold Rolled Strip for Integrated Circuit Lead Frame

4J42K alloy cold rolled strip, also known as Kovar alloy, is a nickel-iron-cobalt alloy developed by rearranging and consolidating nickel, iron and cobalt’s physical and chemical properties, making the alloy suitable for use as an integrated circuit lead frame. The 4J42K alloy is an alloy with a controlled expansion coefficient, which is generally selected for use as a lead frame for integrated circuits in radio transistors and other fields.

4J42K cold rolled strips are one of the representative products in the nickel-iron-cobalt series. The main reason for this is that when the tin-plated strip is melted, a uniform and clean heat connection is formed between the tin and the 4J42K alloy strip, which is beneficial for the welding of various parts integrated in the leads.

The 4J42K cold rolled strips comply with YB/T100-1997. According to the standard, the nominal composition of 4J42K cold rolled strips is as follows: cobalt content between 29.0% and 30.5%; nickel content between 17.0% and 18.5%; Iron content between 41.0% and 42.5%; cobalt, nickel and iron mass fraction balance.

The electrical and mechanical properties of the 4J42K alloy cold rolled strip are very good. The expansion coefficient is controlled between 5.5 and 6.5, and the mechanical properties can reach a tensile strength of 600Mpa. It has good electrical and thermal conductivity, good workability and hot and cold pressure weldability with other metals. In addition, 4J42K alloy cold rolled strips also have good corrosion resistance and solvent resistance.

Moreover, the 4J42K alloy cold rolled strip is a kind of non-staining alloy. The surface of the strip does not contain reflection, does not produce white spots, does not require annealing, and no additional processing is required. Therefore, it is very suitable for applications such as integrated circuit lead frames, hybrid integrated circuit packages and connectors that require high surface flatness.

The ultimate goal of using 4J42K alloy cold rolled strip for integrated circuit lead frames is to reduce current leakage, improve wear resistance and strengthen insulation performance. Therefore, the production process of 4J42K alloy cold rolled strip must strictly control the expansion coefficient. In the entire production process of 4J42K alloy cold rolled strip, the main production processes include smelting, rolling, normalizing, on-line testing, trimming and finishing.

In conclusion, the use of 4J42K alloy cold rolled strip for integrated circuit lead frames is an effective and cost-saving solution. Its superior electrical, mechanical and corrosion resistance properties make it ideal for various electronics applications, guaranteeing optimal performance and a long lifetime.
