China Pharmaceutical Industry Association
Founded in 1991, the China Pharmaceutical Industry Association (CPIA) is a non-profit organization that advocates the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the development of Chinas pharmaceutical industry.
CPIA promotes the ethical manner in which emerging and innovative pharmaceutical products are developed and marketed, and advocates the responsible use of these products in the interest of public health. The association also carries out world-renowned programs, workshops and seminars to enhance the industry’s education and technological solutions, and to bring together the industry’s professionals to further the understanding of matters of common concern. It provides technological exchanges and consultations between Chinese and international pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors and researchers.
CPIAs goals are to foster economic growth and diversity while safeguarding the publics health. The association serves as a platform to create a collaborative environment between various fields, such as pharmaceuticals research, production and distribution, enabling stakeholders to work together to meet public health needs. CPIA works to develop Chinas pharmaceutical industry, with efforts to improve standards of production, quality assurance, science-based research and development as well as coordination on policy and legislation of the industry.
CPIA advocates modernization of the pharmaceutical industry, which includes the transformation of the industrys structure and the advancement of high-end products. To this extent, CPIA organizes study tours, seminars and training courses to enable its members to understand the changing demands of the international environment. CPIA also aims to establish a Chinese model for developing high-end, innovative medications to meet the growing needs of Chinese patients.
CPIA works closely with both domestic and international partners and organizations, including the Ministry of Public Health, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization. It also actively works with associations and organizations from other countries, such as the Federation of European and International Pharmaceutical Associations (FEIRA).
In addition to its advocacy and research activities, CPIA also provides services to its members. Its membership includes more than 750 companies and enterprises, representing virtually all sectors of the industry. Some of the services provided by CPIA include legal advice, insurance services, and international trade and delivery solutions.
