Heat Treatment Process of Magnesium Alloy Forging
Magnesium alloy forging is a commonly used material in manufacturing industry. In order to improve the mechanical properties of magnesium alloy forging, heat treatment process is essential. The research and practical experience of magnesium alloy forging heat treatment technology can be summarized as follows.
First, the heat treatment process of magnesium alloy forging. Commonly used magnesium alloys can be divided into two categories: cast alloys and forging alloys. Forging alloys in the heat treatment process of magnesium alloy forging, go through annealing, suffering, hardening and tempering, and appropriate process parameters need to be selected according to the requirements of the product. Heat treatment of magnesium alloy forgings can improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of products. Generally, for ferrite magnesium alloy forgings, after annealing treatment, the forgings can be obtained with good plasticity. Hardening and tempering are mainly used to increase the strength of forgings and reduce the notch sensitivity. And metallographic structure of forgings are more reasonable.
Second, the tempering temperature of magnesium alloy forged. It is well known that tempering treatment can improve the comprehensive performance and plasticity of the forgings by tempering tempering tempering. During the tempering treatment of magnesium alloy forging, the tempering temperature must be selected according to the purpose of use and the structure of the forging. Different tempering temperature is suitable for different purpose of use, such as higher strength and fatigue strength of forgings, the tempering temperature should be between 175℃ and 490℃, with longer tempering time and higher tempering temperature, the corresponding mechanical properties can be obtained.
Third, the heat treatment of magnesium alloy forging components. Generally speaking, the heat treatment process of magnesium alloy forging components is annealing, suffering and hardening and tempering(H&T). In the heat treatment process of magnesium alloy forging components, annealing is to improve the mechanical properties and plasticity of forgings. After suffering, the forgings are processed into parts, and then they are cooled rapidly, which can refine the organization and improve the hardness and strength of the forgings. Finally, hardening and tempering(H&T) is the key process, which can make the mechanical properties of forgings more uniform, improve the wear resistance and fatigue properties.
In summary, it can be seen that the heat treatment process of magnesium alloy forging is very important, which can effectively improve the machanical properties of magnesium alloy forgings and satisfy the product requirements of usage. During the heat treatment process of magnesium alloy forging, tempering tempering tempering temperature should be moderate, different tempering tempering tempering temperature is suitable for different product requirements, and heat treatment process should be different according to different product specifications. Only by following these steps can the mechanical properties of magnesium alloy forgings be better guaranteed.
