GB2042-89 specifies the requirements, technological conditions and test methods for complex yellow brass plates.

Scope of application

This standard applies to complex yellow brass plates whose nominal thickness is less than or equal to 5mm and whose copper content is greater than or equal to 56.6%.

Requirements

1. The alloy should be made up of copper and form an integral alloy structure. The chemical composition of the alloy should meet the requirements of Table 1 in this standard.

2. The surface of the plate should be smooth and clean and free from defects such as scratches, cracks, shrinkage and deformation.

3. The mechanical properties of the alloy should meet the requirements of Table 2 and Table 3 in this standard.

4. The yield point of samples of plates should be tested in accordance with relevant regulations in this standard.

5. Samples of the plate should be tested and determined in accordance with the requirements of Table 4 in this standard.

Test methods

1. The chemical composition of the alloy should be analyzed and tested as required by this standard.

2. The surface quality of the alloy should be tested in accordance with relevant regulations in this standard.

3. The mechanical properties and yield point of the alloy should be tested in accordance with relevant regulations in this standard.

4. The mechanical properties and yield point of samples of plates should be tested by samples of wires with a cross-section of 6.3mm.

5. The tests of hardness and other physical properties of samples should be tested in accordance with relevant regulations in this standard.

6. The tests of layer structure and corrosion resistance of samples should be tested in accordance with relevant regulations in this standard.

Conclusion

GB 2042-89 specifies the requirements, technological conditions and test methods for complex yellow brass plates. This standard applies to plates whose nominal thickness is less than or equal to 5mm and whose copper content is greater than or equal to 56.6%. The chemical composition of the alloy should meet the requirements of Table 1 in this standard. The surface of the plate should be smooth and clean and free from defects.
