The Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce Steel Trade Association (SFCSTA) is a leading business organization in Shanghai, the largest economic and financial center in China. Established in 2002, the SFCSTA aims to promote the development of the steel industry in Shanghai and surrounding areas, by providing valuable industry information, facilitating policy interpretation and implementation, helping to build a platform for communication and cooperation between members, and providing efficient and professional services to members.

History

The founders of SFCSTA consisted of seven people who recognized the opportunities and potentials of the steel industry in Shanghai and surrounding areas. In 2001, these seven people gathered in Shanghai and established the founding committee of the SFCSTA, its current constitution and charter took shape. The founding committee aimed to bring together the industry experts, members of the local industry, and the public to form an organization that would frame the current and future business environment of steel industry in China.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the SFCSTA are to facilitate the growth and development of the steel industry in Shanghai and other parts of China by reducing the legal and administrative difficulties that businesses face in doing business, identifying the opportunities for growth and providing support for companies in entering new markets. This includes:

1) Promoting the steel trade and related industries by improving communication and cooperation between national government agencies and industry groups as well as strengthening the ties between business and industry leaders;

2) Developing favorable policies and regulations in order to increase the production of steel and facilitate steel-related foreign enterprises and foreign trade in the region;

3) Providing valuable information to members on international steel trade policies, best practices and their potential impact on the industry;

4) Providing professional services to support and promote steel-related industries; and

Activities

In order to achieve its objectives, SFCSTA organizes a variety of activities year-round, including conferences and seminars for members, networking activities for industry professionals, international steel trade exhibitions and fairs, and participation in governmental and non-governmental forums on the steel industry. In addition, it helps its members to gain access to foreign markets and foreign sources of technology and equipment, provides assistance to those interested in setting up joint ventures and investing in the steel industry, and supports research and scholarly activities related to the steel industry.
