Rolls are an essential part of the rolling process. The roll is the power transmission media used to transport the material backward and forward between the two rolls. It is understood that the working condition of the roll is the most important parameter in the rolling process. The working condition of the roll mainly includes the roller grinding size and the side pressure enforcement among the two roller jaws.
The roller grinding size is mainly related to the hardness and quality of the ingot, and the geometry and surface quality of the roller. The higher the grinding accuracy of the roller, the better the machining accuracy of the rolled strip, and the higher the quality of the rolled strip. In order to ensure the correct geometry of the roller grinding, in the rolling process, it is necessary to adjust the gap between the two rollers to control the roller grinding size.
The side pressure enforcement among the two roller jaws is mainly related to the specific processing technology requirements. The side pressure of the two rollers must be in the same direction in order to realize a stable material transfer from the end of the roller to the beginning of the roller. In order to ensure that the side pressure of the two rollers is consistent, it is necessary to install a side pressure enforcement device between the two rollers, which can effectively control the side pressure enforcement level of the two rollers.
In order to meet the requirements of modern rolling technology, two types of roll side pressure enforcement devices and roll adjustment devices have been developed according to different roll shapes and sizes. The first type is a side pressure enforcement device which is installed between the two rollers with a spring or hydrostatic pressure to ensure the same side pressure between the two rollers. The second type is a roll adjustment device installed at the end of the roller. This device can adjust the gap between the two rollers to meet the required roller grinding accuracy.
The two types of roll side pressure enforcement device and roll adjustment device have been integrated into one intelligent roll adjustment device. It consists of several modules including a pressure sensing module, a control module and a data acquisition module. The pressure sensing module is used to detect the side pressure between the two rollers, and the control module is responsible for the active control of the side pressure enforcement level. The data acquisition module acquires the whole data of the roller grinding process and provides effective feedback for the control of the side pressure enforcement and roller grinding size.
The intelligent roll adjustment device has been widely used in cold rolling and hot rolling in the steel manufacturing industry. It can effectively ensure that the grinding size of the roller is always within the specified tolerance range and that the side pressure enforcement between the two rollers is always consistent with the processing requirements, thus effectively improving the processing accuracy and product quality of the rolling process.
