Theoretical Weight Calculation Method of Commonly Used Steel
Steel is one of the most widely used materials in the building and manufacturing industries. The theoretical weight calculation method of commonly used steel products is an important way for the technical production of steel, and different products have different calculation methods. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone to have a thorough understanding and clear understanding of these calculation methods, which is of great help for the accurate estimation of steel products.
One common steel product is the steel plate. The calculation method for its theoretical weight depends on the plate size, plate thickness, and plate density. Generally, the plate size is expressed in length and width, and each is expressed in millimeters (mm). The theoretical weight of the steel plate is calculated as follows:
Theoretical weight = Thickness (mm) × Width (mm) × Length (mm) × Plate density (ton/m3).
Take a 4mm steel plate as an example, its theoretical weight = 4mm × 1000mm × 2000mm × 7.85t/m3 = 62800kg.
The steel pipe is another commonly used steel product. The calculation of the theoretical weight of the steel pipe is calculated according to its diameter and wall thickness. Thepipe diameteris expressed in millimeters (mm) andthe wall thicknessis expressed in millimeters (mm). The theoretical weight of the steel pipe is calculated as follows:
Theoretical weight = Outer diameter (mm) - Wall thickness (mm) × Wall thickness (mm) × 0.024 × Pipe density (ton/m3).
Take a Φ15×3mm steel pipe as an example, then its theoretical weight = (15-3) mm × 3mm × 0.024 × 7.85t/m3 = 43.188kg.
In addition, steel sections are another important type of steel products. There are three basic calculation methods for their theoretical weight:
The first method is the calculation method of hot rolling section steel. This method takes the weight of the steel in kilograms (kg) as the main index. The calculation formula is: Theoretical weight = Sectional area × Section density (ton/m3).
Taking a hot-rolled 150×15×3 unequal angle steel as an example, the theoretical weight = 2.475 m2 × 7.85t/m3 = 19.47kg.
The second method is the calculation method of cold forming section steel. This method takes the centroidal moment of inertia (cm) as the main index. The calculation formula is: Theoretical weight = d2 cm × Section density (ton/m3).
Taking a cold-formed 120×120×12×6.5 unexpanded angle steel as an example, the theoretical weight = 88.62 cm4 × 7.85t/m3 = 700.5kg.
The third method is the calculation method of universal steel. This method takes the surface area as the main index. The calculation formula is: Theoretical weight = Surface area × Section density (ton/m3).
Take a universal 120×120×8×5 H-beam as an example, then the theoretical weight = 21.86m2 × 7.85t/m3 = 171.96kg.
The above are the calculation methods of the commonly used steel products. It can be seen that these calculation methods are very simple, but they are helpful for analyzing the theoretical weight of steel. With a clear understanding of this knowledge, it is not difficult to accurately calculate the theoretical weight of various steel products.
