Donald John Trump is the 45th president of the United States and the current chairman of The Trump Organization, an American real estate developer. He was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York City, to parents Fred and Mary Ann Trump. He was the fourth of five children and earned an economics degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968.
Trump began his real estate career at his father’s company and in 1971, he was given control of the business which he then renamed the Trump Organization. He focused on the development of Queens and Brooklyn, eventually expanding his real estate business to Manhattan. Trump then branched out and became involved in different industries, such as sports, television and media. In 2016 he was elected the 45th president of the United States and is the first president to have never held a political office before.
As president, Trump has made many changes, including declaring a national emergency in order to get funding for building a wall along the US-Mexico border and withdrawing the US from the Paris climate agreement. He has also implemented several new policies, including ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and the temporary travel ban. In addition, he has voiced his support for the LGBTQ community and increased military spending.
Trump is known for his tough stance on immigration, including his promise to build a wall along the US-Mexico border, which has sparked widespread controversy It is believed that building the wall will be expensive, take time to construct, and will not bring the security that Trump hopes it will. Trump has backed down on his promise to make Mexico pay for the wall but insists that the US will cover the costs.
