Rapid Positioning Instruction G00 of NC Milling Machine Programming

NC (Numerical Control) milling machine is applied to process complicated curved surfaces, especially suitable for processing hard material. NC milling machine is widely used in mold manufacturing, hardware processing, auto parts processing, aerospace industry and other fields. NC milling machine is generally appied NC programming instructions to control the shape and size of materials.

G00 is a rapid positioning command used to instruct NC milling machine move at the fastest speed (called rapid move speed) to point (x, y, z) on the coordinate system to complete the rapid positioning motion.

Syntax format

G00X_Y_Z_;

The scheduling parameters are expressed in absolute coordinates and relative coordinates. When G00 is used in coordinates expression, the meaning should be understood according to the position of the current coordinate point. The following table shows the meaning of G00 commands used for different coordinates.

Absolute coordinate

G00X_Y_Z_; The command means the X, Y, Z coordinates of the current absolute coordinates are respectively changed to the X_, Y_, Z_ coordinates in the command and quickly move forward to the specified position.

Relative coordinate

G00X_Y_Z_; The command means that the X, Y, Z coordinates of the current relative coordinates are respectively changed to the X _, Y _, and Z_ coordinates gained by the addition of the command to the current coordinates, and quickly move forward.

2. Generally, the faster the speed of segmented motion, the smoother the movement, so it is better to choose the G01 programming instruction if the speed of segmented motion is not too high.

3. G00 instruction can only be used for position movement and can not be used for contour cutting machining, because the position of the spindle in the rapid movement state is not accurately given, so it cant ensure the accuracy of the machined product.

4. When using G00 in programming, the tool contact edge should be avoided.
