Removing Stubborn Rust or Broken Screws

Once the correct bit is determined, set the drill bit at the center of the screw head and press down firmly while turning the handle of the screw. Once the screw is dislodged, it should be easier to remove with hand tools.
For the most extreme cases, an angle grinder might be necessary. An angle grinder is a power tool that uses a quickly spun grinding stone to remove difficult materials from metal. This is the most extreme tool to use, and should only be used when all other methods have failed. When using an angle grinder, make sure to wear safety glasses and a breathing mask, as the small metal particles created during the process can be hazardous.
