The Zhongdingpu Science and Technology Park is located in the City of Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. The Park was established in 2007 and currently covers an area of over 13.7 million square meters. It is one of the largest science and technology parks in the country, and an important part of Liaoning’s efforts to capture a larger share of the burgeoning Chinese high-tech industry.

The Park is made up of a number of distinct zones, which are further subdivided into “birth zones” and “incubator zones”. The birth zones are focused on core development activities and research, while incubator zones are more oriented toward developing and nurturing early stage companies – providing a more hospitable habitat for them to grow. A variety of businesses have already moved into the Park, including a number of innovative new enterprises.

The Park’s infrastructure is state-of-the-art, and includes a number of advanced facilities and technical support services, such as the International Supercomputing Center and the Shenyang Industrial Information Technology Promotion Center. The Park also works closely with a number of universities and research institutions, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing. A number of support services are also provided, including high-speed broadband and significant tax exemptions.

The long-term goals of the Zhongdingpu Science and Technology Park include the establishment of an “innovation industrial ecosystem”, stimulating the growth of emerging industries, and generating value-added initiatives. The Energy Internet and other Intelligent Manufacturing projects are emerging as key areas of focus for the Park, and a number of green energy initiatives are also being explored.

Innovative companies have already started to move into the Park and benefit from its many resources. For example, Hitachi has established a research center that focuses on Industrial Automation and IOT (Internet of Things) technologies. Similarly, GM China’s research and development arm – GM Wuling – has established a research center at the Park, focusing on the development of new electric powertrains.

Ultimately, Zhongdingpu Science and Technology Park is a bold new venture that China hopes will take them into the future – building on the country’s long history of innovation and pushing further into the world of advanced technology. With the backing of the Chinese government, the Park is well-equipped to ensure that this ambition is achieved.
