P20/30SiMn2MoV is a common steel of medium carbon and low alloy steel, belonging to the Cr-Mn-Mo series tool steel, a common type of high-strength steel. It is punch-press die, trimming die and measuring tools, large and medium-sized plastic mold and core parts with high working surface wear resistance and good wear resistance.

P20/30SiMn2MoV has good hardenability and good toughness. After hot working, it is necessary to quench and temper in order to obtain high wear resistance or comprehensive mechanical properties. It is therefore mainly used for punch-press die, trimming die and measuring tool with high wear resistance, large and medium plastic mold core parts, etc.

Compared with the same type of carbon tool steel, P20/30SiMn2MoV has higher strength, toughness and wear resistance. It is suitable for manufacturing medium-strength general punches and punch-press die, measuring tools, die-casting die (inner core, die bed, wheel), trimming die, plastic mold core parts, etc. Due to the fine wear resistance of P20/30SiMn2MoV and the high hardenability and good plasticity of tempered steel, P20/30SiMn2MoV with good comprehensive characteristics is widely used in mechanical manufacturing.

P20/30SiMn2MoV is a medium carbon steel with low alloy content, good hardenability and good toughness. Its forging temperature is about 1200 ° C, and forgeability is good, so it is suitable for one-time forging. Generally, the product needs normalizing, quenching and tempering to fully meet the requirements of highly wear-resistant materials and comprehensive mechanical properties.

After quenching and tempering, P20/30SiMn2MoV has a hardness of about 240HBW, heavy load and strong impact resistance, and suitable for manufacture of punches, punching dies, trimming dies and measuring tools which need high wear resistance and medium plasticity. In addition, it is suitable for the core parts of large and medium-sized plastic moulds, such as die cores, mandrels, columns and sleeves, which need good surface wear resistance, plasticity and machinability.

However, P20/30SiMn2MoV is not resistant to gas corrosion, so it is not suitable for making tools used in gas and acid environment. In addition, the parts with large stress and high temperature produced during the processing of this material should be preheated before welding, or the welding of stress relieved parts is recommended. Metal arc welding and Oxyacetylene welding are applicable but the welding seam should be pre-heated to a low temperature, and the welding should be performed at a low speed.

In summary, P20/30SiMn2MoV is a commonly used high-strength steel with good hardenability and good toughness, which is mainly used for the production of punches and punch-press dies, large and medium plastic mold core parts, trimming die, measuring tool and other tools, with a hardness of about 240HBW. At the same time, due to its poor corrosion resistance, it is not suitable for the production of tools used in gas and acid environment. P20/30SiMn2MoV should undergo normalizing, quenching and tempering before use, and the welding of parts processed by this material should be preheated and performed at low speed.
