Dehong prefecture is located in western Yunnan Province of southwest China, bordering Myanmar. Dehong has three rivers: Nujiang, Lancang and Lancangzhong which have created stunning natural scenery which includes diverse plant species, rapid streams, kinds of fish and beautiful valleys.

Dehong is also the home of several ethnic minority groups, including Dai, Jinuo, Blang and Achang. There are large populations of Dai people living in the cities of Yingjiang and Luxi.
