Development and Research of Numerical Control System Software Chip
Numerical control (NC) system software chip technology, is a key part of modern numerical control machine tool and automatic production line technology. Development of numerical control system software chip is the foundation for the development of numerical control system.
Numerical control system software chip, also known as “computer chip”, is a kind of integrated circuit (IC) computer system which has all the functions needed for numerical control and can recognize and execute coded instructions. Generally, the chip includes five parts: central processor unit (CPU), read only memory (ROM), random access memory (RAM), input/output (I/O) interface, and connection bus. In addition, with the development of the micro-electronic IC processing technique, the chip has become smaller, faster and with lower cost, which makes it an essential part of the numerical control system.
In recent years, the development of NC system software chip has gone through two stages: the micro-computer control stage, and the digital signal processor (DSP) control stage. The technologies used in the micro-computer control stage includes the controller modules, in-circuit emulation, high speed arithmetic chip, and real-time kernel. While technologies used in the DSP control stage includes micro-processor chip, multimedia chip, RF chip, short circuit chip, and embedded system.
In terms of the research of this technology, researchers are focusing on the design and implementation of high-speed and low-power numerical control system software chip, as well as implementation of new designs in this area. For example, design of miniaturization chips, development of high-speed programmable logic device simulation, research of the application of fault-tolerant technology, development of real-time kernel and newly designed system software, development of semi-real-time processing technique, research of parallel system and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology, research of embedded operating system and embedded application programs, etc., all of which are aimed at providing better performance for the numerical control system.
Overall, the research and development of numerical control system software chip technology has made significant progress in recent years. Its development includes the following aspects:
1. Design of miniaturization chips: Miniaturization technology is an important factor in the development of numerical control system software chips. In recent years, a series of miniaturization chips have been developed based on the technology of CMOS devices, featuring small size, low power consumption, fast response time and waveform stabilization, as well as flexible design.
2. Development of high-speed programmable logic device simulation: This technology is used in the simulation and evaluation of different control systems, thus reducing the development cycle and improving the accuracy of the control system.
3. Research of the application of fault-tolerant technology: Fault-tolerant technology is a technology that ensures the reliability of the system operations with multiple self-checking mechanisms. This technology has been widely used in numerical control software chip design, such as fault-tolerant memory (FTM) and fault-tolerant processor (FTP).
4. Development of real-time kernel and newly designed system software: The development of real-time kernel and system software has greatly improved the responsiveness, adaptability and stability of the numerical control system.
In summary, the development of numerical control system software chip is an important part of the research in this area, and has made significant progress in recent years. As the performance of the chip is constantly improving, it is expected that the numerical control system will be more efficient, reliable and user-friendly.
