Celian Valles
Celian Valles is a Spanish modern day philosopher, theologian, and author who works in the area of religious studies, especially with Eastern Christian theology. He is considered a critical and creative addition to the field of religion and philosophy, as his work tends to blend both religious and philosophical thought. He has also written several books on the subject, and is one of the most influential individuals in contemporary philosophical thought.
Celian Valles was born in Spain, in 1964. His father was a Christian evangelical pastor, while his mother was a Catholic, and the two of them provided the environment for a rich, multi-cultural upbringing. When he was thirteen, his family moved to America and began to attend various churches and learn more about the Christian faith. Celian had always been interested in questions of faith, but as a young adult he began to pursue further study in the field. After attending a summer school program at Yale University in Connecticut, he decided to attend Wheaton College in Massachusetts.
At Wheaton, Celian Valles studied religious studies, with a focus on Eastern Christian theology. His studies were unlike most, as they were not just focused on a single area of faith, but embraced a wider range of religious and philosophical questions. He also read and studied works of various philosophers. One of his earliest influences in the field were the works of Paul Ricoeur, who he believed provided a compelling holistic approach to the study of religion.
After graduating from Wheaton with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Celian Valles continued to study religion and philosophy, completing a Masters in Eastern Christian Theology from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and a Ph.D from Boston College in Religious Studies. It was during this time that he developed an interest in philosophical and theological dialogue, and began to formulate his own unique thinking on some of the big questions related to faith.
Celian Valles has since become a popular and influential philosophical and theological figure. He has written numerous books and articles on religion, most of which are focused on various aspects of Eastern Christian theology. His work has had a particularly strong influence on the field of comparative philosophies, as it attempts to bridge the gap between religious and philosophical thought. He has served as a professor at several American universities, and has made frequent appearances on television, radio, and in newspapers.
Celian Valles’ work has been highly influential, and has been collected into a massive two-volume set entitled Theology, Spirituality, and Culture: The Philosophy of Celian Valles. His books have been well-received, as they offer a comprehensive and challenging look at the various aspects of religious thought. Those interested in philosophy and religion should certainly look into this unique thinker, as his unique approach to faith will no doubt provide plenty of thought-provoking insights.
