Daltons law of partial pressures states that the pressure of a mixed gas is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the individual components. This law was named after the English chemist John Dalton, who first described it in 1801.

Daltons law of partial pressures (also known as Daltons law) states that when two or more non-reactive gases are mixed together, the total pressure exerted by the mixture is equal to the sum of the partial pressure exerted individually by each component. For example, if 2 liters of pure oxygen is mixed with 4 liters of pure nitrogen, the total pressure of the mixture is equal to the sum of the partial pressure of the oxygen (2 liters) and the partial pressure of the nitrogen (4 liters).
