G20CrMo Bearing Steel

G20CrMo bearing steel is a high strength, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant alloy steel with a controlled carbon content range and low sulfur and phosphorus content. With its high strength and low alloy content, G20CrMo bearing steel is especially suitable for larger parts subject to high pressure and wear over an extended period of time. This bearing steel is characterized by its high wear resistance, excellent wear characteristics and optimal heat-treatment properties.

G20CrMo bearing steel is typically used to manufacture components such as gears, bearings and shafts where there is a need for high strength and corrosion resistance, as well as high wear resistance. This bearing steel is also commonly used for parts that require a hardness of at least 300BHN (Brinell hardness) in order to better withstand wear.

G20CrMo bearing steel is a low-alloy version of the stainless steel class of materials, and is the latest European standard bearing steel formulation. This bearing steel is the most cost effective option when compared to other high strength bearing steels such as chrome-moly steel (CrMo), nickel-chrome-moly steel (NiCrMo) and maraging steel (Maraging). It also has a lower cost of production than these alternative bearing steels.

This bearing steel has minimum yield strength of 380 Mpa and ultimate tensile strength of 600 Mpa. It also has a core hardness of 200HB, making it a suitable choice for applications requiring a considerable amount of wear before failing. The steel also has a high wear-resistance and is particularly suited for wear parts with a high static and dynamic load where long lasting performance is required.

G20CrMo bearing steel is moisture resistant and provides excellent resistance to corrosive, salt laden or other extreme environment conditions. Due to its inherent properties, this bearing steel can also be used in thicker components and is suitable for practical applications such as spindles or other movable parts under continuous operation and vibration.

The steel has versatility for use in a variety of applications, ranging from automotive to earthmoving and construction sectors and is suitable for a number of applications in both static and dynamic devices. G20CrMo bearing steel offers an excellent combination of strength and toughness with acceptable wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Its optimal qualities make it the ideal choice for a variety of industrial markets.

G20CrMo Bearing Steel

G20CRMo is a commonly selected low alloy bearing steel. It is a bearing steel with stable chemical composition and low sulfur content, and it is also a semifinished product of a medium carbon chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. The advantage of this material is that it has more advanced characteristics than low carbon bearing steel GCr15, while its price cost is much cheaper than GCr15 bearing steel.

G20CrMo bearing steel contains 0.17-0.23% carbon, 0.8-1.2% chromium, 0.15-0.25% molybdenum, and 0.030% phosphorus, and 0.030% sulfur. G20CrMo steel has good properties of oxidation resistance and high temperature resistance. It has good high temperature strength and fatigue strength, making it suitable for high temperature working working environments. The normal processing temperature of G20CrMo steel is 950-1000℃. It has some high temperature brittleness at temperatures above 1050℃, so it is not suitable for those high temperature working environments.

G20CrMo bearing steel is widely used in the production of various types of rolling bearings, especially for deep groove ball bearings for high-speed precision shafts. It is also commonly used in auto parts and motors. Due to its advantages of low price and good performance, it has been widely used in precision shafts and high intensity bearing steel parts.

In terms of heat treatment, G20CrMo bearing steel is preferably quenched and low temperature tempered. The quenching temperature is generally 890-950℃, and the tempering temperature is generally 580-640℃. When quenching and hardening, G20CrMo steel should be heated uniformly and heated evenly. After oil quenching, the quenching process should be carried out at low speed. In order to reduce the brittleness of G20CrMo steel after quenching and ensure its toughness, it is necessary to carry out tempering process immediately.
