The Iranian National Steel Company (INS) is the leading producer of steel and metallurgical products in the Middle Eastern nation of Iran. Founded in 1986 by the Iranian government, INS is one of the largest industrial enterprises in the region and plays a significant role in the countrys economy.

At present, the company controls more than 50% of the total domestic production in Iran, which is the tenth highest steel-producing country in the world. The company is the largest source of profit for the government, representing about forty-percent of the governments annual revenue. INS manufactures a wide range of products including hot and cold-rolled steel, plates, coils and bars, strip, tube, billet and rebar. As well as producing a variety of steel products, the company also offers electrical arc furnace technology, induction and cold-rolling, as well as other services such as surface treatment and secondary finishing operations.

INS operates two processing plants and two converter shops. The company’s main plant, located in Isfahan and owned by the government, has a capacity of 2.1 million tons per year. The second plant, the Sabalan Steel Complex in Tabriz, owned by the private sector, has a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year. The companys annual output of semi-finished steel products is estimated to be around 1.5 million tons. INS also runs several other steelworking facilities in various cities in Iran, including in Tehran and Bandar Abbas.

INS aims to be a major steel producer in the Middle East and North Africa region by utilizing its production capabilities, technical know-how and available resources to the fullest, and by continuously expanding the capacity of its plants. In order to achieve this goal, the company has established a range of investment projects and developed numerous partnerships with other steel and steel-related businesses.

The company has recently embarked on a modernization program to improve production processes and reduce costs. This involves the introduction of new machinery and materials, as well as improvements to existing facilities such as cooling and hot-strip lines. In addition, the company has also applied for the necessary international certifications, such as ISO 9001:2008 and the International Standardization of Quality.

The Iranian National Steel Company is set to take a leading role in the region’s steel industry and is on track to become the biggest producer of quality steel products in the Middle East.
