Design of Waste Heat Utilization of Sintering Plant

1 Introduction

Sintering plants are widely used in metallurgical industry. The sintering process is an important process in the steelmaking process. The waste gas generated by the sintering process contains a large amount of thermal energy, and it is valuable to make reasonable use of this energy. At present, the waste heat utilization technology of sintering plant in China is still in the initial stage. In order to make the sintering plant of the enterprise more economically reasonable, energy-saving and emission-reduction, it is particularly important to develop and utilize waste heat resources.

2 Theoretical basis of waste heat utilization

The exhaust gas is discharged from the sintering machine to the atmosphere after the clinker is burned in the sintering machine. In the process of sintering, the waste heat from the stack accounts for about 17% of the total heat produced. If the exhaust gas is used properly, it can achieve environmental protection and energy conservation effect. We can use the waste heat of the sintering plant in combination with the physical and chemical characteristics of the stack gas to design suitable equipment and pipelines, and make reasonable use of the exhaust gas to achieve the purpose of energy conservation and emission reduction.

3 Waste heat utilization principle

The so-called waste heat utilization is to utilize the heat of the exhaust gas of the sintering plant to produce hot water or steam or other heat sources to provide hot water or other heat sources when the plant needs hot water or heating. The principle of waste heat utilization of sintering plant is: the exhausted gas is preheated by the waste heat exchanger, the air flow rate is measured by the flowmeter, and the exhaust gas temperature is tested and controlled by the temperature sensor. Then the heat exchange released by the gas is absorbed by the combustible gas flow through the heat exchange pipe, and heated to the temperature required by the process, so as to provide steam or hot water for heating.

4 Waste heat utilization equipment selection

In order to realize the waste heat utilization of sintering plant, the equipment selection is essential. In order to make the equipment of waste heat utilization better achieve the purpose of energy saving and environmental protection, we need to choose the appropriate sintering equipment according to the actual situation of our plant. Generally speaking, we need to choose the equipment of waste heat recovery, such as waste heat recovery boiler, waste heat recovery air preheater, waste heat recovery steam boiler and so on.

5 Summary

The exhaustion of the stack gas in the sintering plant contains a great amount of heat, and the appropriate waste heat utilization technology can realize the utilization of the waste heat of the plant, improve the efficiency of the plant operation, reduce the cost and realize the purpose of energy saving and emission reduction. According to the specific situation of the sintering plant, the suitable waste heat utilization equipment is selected and designed so as to maximize the utilization of resources and effectively achieve the purpose of energy saving and environmental protection.
