GB/T 14957-94 Steel Wire for Fusion Welding

The China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) and the Chinese Standardization Institute released a standards for steel wire for fusion welding, GB/T 14957-94. This standard was officially published in June 1994 and have come into effect in October 1994.

This standard applies to the rods and wire filaments of carbon, manganese and steel alloy used for fusion welding in metal processing and manufacturing industries. The products should have the chemical composition, mechanical properties and so on specified in this standard. Steel wires used for fusion welding must be condensed aluminum electrodeposited.

The steel wires for fusion welding products must have the following types of chemical composition: Carbon, Silicon, Manganese, Sulphur, Phosphorus, Nickel, Chromium, Molybdenum and Vanadium. The detailed nominal analysis values of these components should be as specified in table 1 of the standard. The percentage of every alloy elements has to confirm with the limits given in table 1 as well.

The steel wires for fusion welding mentioned in the standard must pass all the mandatory tests regarding tensile strength, hardness, breaking and bending values. In addition, limits of elongation and impact strength test specifications are also provided in the standard.

The general size standard of the steel wires must comply with table 2 of the standard and the detailed tolerances should match up with table 3. The markings of this steel wire will have the name of the factory first followed with the serial number and year of production. For example: “HF Serial No * Year”.

The technical standards for steel wire for fusion welding must be inspected and tested in the manufacturing process at least twice for each batch. The certificated of the test must be provided to the customers, stating that the product of the batch meets the requirement of this standard.

The steel wires for fusion welding must maintain a quality superior to the ordinary wire based on the mechanical propertiess, chemical compositions and so on as specified in GB/T 14957-94 standard.

In conclusion, the steel wire for fusion welding conforming to the China, GB/T 14957-94 standard must possess superior quality regarding mechanical properties, chemical composition, size and other values specified in the standard mentioned above. The supplier must provide appropriate test certificates in order to guarantee the product quality mentioned in the standard.
