Method for Measuring the Technical Specifications of Porous Fillers for Acetylene Gas Cylinders
Abstract: This article introduces the method for measuring the technical specification of porous fillers for acetylene gas cylinders according to GB 11639-1989, including test items, apparatus, sample preparation and test procedures.
Keywords: porous filler; acetylene gas cylinder; GB 11639-1989; technical specifications.
1 Introduction
Porous filler is an important component of acetylene gas cylinders. It can provide efficient distribution of compressed acetylene gas, and its reasonable technical specifications can ensure safety and reliability of the acetylene gas cylinders. GB 11639-1989 [1] specifies the test items and methods for measuring the technical specifications of the porous fillers for acetylene gas cylinders. This article introduces the test items, test apparatus, sample preparation and test procedures of the method according to GB 11639-1989 [1].
2 Test Items
According to GB 11639-1989 [1], the test items includes:
(1) Apparent density.
(2) Bulk density.
(3) Uniformity (of particle size).
(4) Vertical pressure resistance.
(5) Chemical analysis.
(6) Wear resistance.
(7) Water absorption.
(8) Residual dust content.
3 Test Apparatus
(1) Apparent density tester.
(2) Bulk density tester.
(3) Sieves.
(4) Vertical pressure resistance tester.
(5) Spot spectrometer.
(6) Abrasion tester.
(7) Analytical balance.
(8) Electric moisture balance.
4 Sample Preparation
The sample for test should be taken at random from the production batch for test in the production factory and transportation warehouse according to the sampling plan. The sample size should be sufficient to carry out all tests. Slide the sample into a sealed container of stainless steel or other non-porous and non-toxic material made of inert substances and mark it up with the sample number, name and source. The sample preparation process should be as follows:
(1) Separate the dust in the sample.
(2) Separate the broken pieces and foreign objects.
(3) Mix the sample and divide it into test samples according to the sample size.
5 Test Prodedure
(1) Apparent density: The apparent density of the sample should be determined by the apparent density tester.
(2) Bulk density: The bulk density of the sample should be determined by the bulk density tester.
(3) Uniformity (of particle size): The materials should be sieved with sieves of different apertures, and the size of particles should be determined by visual inspection and/or weight measuring.
(4) Vertical pressure resistance: The vertical pressure resistance of sample should be determined by the vertical pressure resistance tester.
(5) Chemical analysis: The composition of the sample should be determined by spot spectrometer or other suitable instruments.
(6) Wear resistance: The wear resistance of samples should be determined by the abrasion tester.
(7) Water absorption: The water absorption of samples should be determined by the analytical balance, weighing the samples before and after the soaking in water.
(8) Residual dust content: The residual dust content of the sample should be determined by weighing the samples before and after sieving.
6 Conclusion
This article has introduced the method for measuring the technical specifications of porous fillers for acetylene gas cylinders according to GB 11639-1989. The test items, test apparatus, sample preparation and test procedures of the method are described. The method can guarantee the safety and reliability of the acetylene gas cylinders by providing reasonable technical specifications.
