The head and tail ends of the plates need to be free of any tears, stresses, cracks or slits. In addition, the plates need to display a uniform thickness tolerance, appropriate straightness and a certain level of hardness as per the requirement by the standard DIN EN 10029.

The tests that are employed to ascertain the steel’s quality include Ultrasonic Examination (UT), Charpy V-Notch Impact Testing, Moment Testing, Chemical Analysis, and Hardness Testing.
