Industrial Hydrogen Technical Index GB/T3634-1995
Hydrogen is an important fuel for industrial production. Rapid development and wide application in the petrochemical, chemical and atomic energy industries have promoted the development of hydrogen technology. Hydrogen technology has become a part of the national economy and an important foundation for industrial production. To ensure normal hydrogen production, transportation and use, Hydrogen Technology Index GB/T3634-1995 was developed, which specified the general requirements and determination methods of hydrogen technical indices.
The requirements of hydrogen technical indices consist of the following aspects:
Chemical composition: The numerical values of the chemical composition of hydrogen shall comply with the requirements of GB/T150.
Impurity content: The total impurity content, no matter gaseous or liquid, can not exceed 0.10%.
Physical characteristic requirements: Hydrogen should remains in liquid state when pressurized below atmospheric pressure (negative pressure state); when pressurized above atmospheric pressure, it should remain in gas state (positive pressure state).
Temperature requirement: When hydrogen is under pressure, it can also remain liquid under temperature application, wherein the lower temperature should not be lower than its corresponding pressure.
Dissolved hydrogen requirement: Dissolved hydrogen must not exceed 0.002%. Under negative pressure, it must not exceed 0.0001%.
Melting point: When under pressure, hydrogen should not remain in liquid-state if its temperature is lower than the corresponding pressure. The melting point of hydrogen should reach a certain pressure under its corresponding temperature.
Freezing point: When under pressure, hydrogen should remain in liquid state when its temperature is higher than the corresponding pressure. The freezing point of hydrogen should reach a certain pressure under its corresponding temperature.
pH Value: The pH Value of hydrogen should range between 6.5 and 8.5.
Biological toxicity: Hydrogen should not be toxic to human health and the environment.
Viscosity: When hydrogen is in a liquid form, its viscosity should meet the requirements of GB/T150.
Density: The density of hydrogen should meet the requirements of GB/T150.
In addition, the determination methods for hydrogen’s physical characteristics, chemical composition and impurity content of industrial hydrogen are also specified in Hydrogen Technology Index GB/T3634-1995. In conclusion, this standard provides a general overview and detailed information of hydrogen technology indices. This standard is very important in the right application of hydrogen in the industry, and therefore should be used as a required guide in industrial production.
