The downtown section of Hollywood Boulevard includes the world-famous Hollywood sign, which stands 505 feet tall. Designed as an advertisement for a real estate development, it has become an icon of California and the silver screen alike. Its high perch also gives it a great view of the city, and visitors can take a shuttle at the Griffith Observatory up to the Hollywood sign.
