Welding Technology Regulations for Steel Structures of Buildings (24)
1. Scope
This Standard applies to welding of steel structures for buildings and structures, as well as calculation and testing thereof.
2. Primary Terms and Definitions
2.1 Steel Structure of Building
Steel structures of buildings refer to welded and/or bolted steel structures generally composed of steel columns, steel beams, steel trusses and braces that are used in support, connection and composition of roof, wall, foundation and other parts of building.
2.2 Submerged Arc Welding
Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) is a weld method that uses a welding arc to produce heat that melts a portion of the base material, and electrodes to transfer filler material to the joint.
2.3 Flux Cored Arc Welding
Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) is a welding technique that uses a continuous solid-wire electrode and a flux-filled tubular electrode to form a protective gas cover around the weld area.
2.4 Electron Beam Welding
Electron Beam Welding (EBW) is a welding process that uses a beam of high-energy electrons that are focused and accelerated toward the center of the joint.
3. Welding Requirements
3.1 Welds
Welds shall be structurally sound, free from defects and meet the applicable requirements stipulated in this standard.
3.2 Welders
Welders shall be qualified in accordance with the requirements stipulated in relevant standards, equipped with welding certificate, trained in accordance with operating regulations, and qualified as skilled welders after passing the welding process test.
3.3 Weld Procedure
Welding procedure shall be designed in accordance with relevant standards and requirements. Heat treatment, preheating and post welding heat treatment shall be performed when necessary.
3.4 Welding Materials
Welding materials shall conform to the requirements of relevant standards and shall be marked, stored and identified in accordance with relevant standards.
3.5 Joints
Weld joints shall be designed according to the relevant regulations, with uniform dimensions and dimensions meeting the requirements.
4. Quality Requirements
4.1 Connecting Quality
The connecting quality of welding process shall meet the requirements stipulated in relevant standards, including weld acceptance criteria and defects criteria.
4.2 Welding Performance Testing
The welding performance of welds shall be tested according to the requirements of relevant standards. The testing method, testing conditions and test results shall meet the requirements.
5. Inspection and Testing
5.1 Non-Destructive Testing
Non-destructive testing of welds shall be conducted in accordance with relevant regulations and the test results shall meet the requirements.
5.2 Destructive Testing
Destructive testing of welded connections shall be conducted in accordance with relevant regulations and the test results shall meet the requirements.
6. Welding Documentation
Welding documents shall include welding procedure qualification records, welding process records, weld inspection records and other relevant records. The records shall be kept in accordance with relevant regulations.
Conclusion
By complying with the requirements of the Welding Technology Regulations for Steel Structures of Buildings (24), welders, fabricators, engineers and all other personnel involved in steel structure of building welding can guarantee the quality and performance of the steel structure in order to ensure the safety and integrity of the building, as well as its surrounding environment.
