Mould grinding or milling technology is an effective and efficient method for machining mould slots. The high speed, high quality and super accurate machining of mould slots is the key to the good performance and long life of the mould.

First, the selection of grinding tools: The grinding tools for grinding must have high sharpness and good abrasion resistance. According to the shape and size of the mold slot, the choice of grinding tool should be made. Generally, mould slot grinding tool is divided into several series such as knives, round mills, flat end mills and contouring end mills.

Second, grinding parameters

1. According to the different machining process, the spindle speed should be selected. When grinding with a round mill, the linear speed of the spindle should be at least 18m/min; when grinding with a flat mill, the linear speed of the spindle should be at least 15m/min; when grinding with a contouring end mill, the linear speed of the spindle should be at least 20m/min.

2. The feed rate of the workpiece should be selected according to the size of the workpiece. Generally, the feed rate of the workpiece should not exceed 0.1mm.

3. The cutting depth determines the depth of the finished slot. Generally, the cutting depth of the workpiece is 0.2mm~0.5mm. It is usually 1mm at one time.

Third, the specific steps

1. Cutting: When cutting, the spindle speed should not exceed that of the grinding tools. If necessary, adjusting the spindle speed reduces the cutting resistance.

2. Grinding surface: The grinding surface should be as smooth as possible. The higher the grinding speed and spindle speed, the better the surface quality of the mould slot.

3. Cooling: When grinding, the grinding tool should be cooled in time to ensure that the service life of the grinding tool is prolonged.

Finally, in order to ensure the high precision and high quality of the mould slot, the grinding tool should be rotated smoothly. When grinding, the cut edge should be closely combined with the grinding tool to form a smooth cutting surface, so as to ensure that the scrap rate of the mould slot is not too large and ensure the machining accuracy of the mould slot.
