Test Method of Flow Control Valve GB 8104-87
The flow control valve is a device of the automatic control system incorporated into the system to adjust pressure, flow, temperature and other process parameters. The purpose of this test method is to provide a uniform method for testing the performance characteristics of flow control valves with respect to their flow characteristics under different flow conditions.
1. Scope of Test
This test method is applicable to the flow control valve shape, size, and design for testing performance characteristics related to its flow characteristics. It is suitable for use in the petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries where precise control of flow is important.
2. Test Apparatus
2.1 Flow control valve: The test valve shall be equipped with the necessary test and adjustment fittings, such as a pressure guage, a relief valve, or a shutoff valve, to ensure that the test valve operates at a predetermined pressure and flow rate.
2.2 Flow measurement system: The test apparatus shall include a flow measurement system capable of accurately measuring the flow rate of the specified test valve. The system shall include a calibrated meter and flow meter, with provisions for mounting them on a 10-foot length of metal pipe.
2.3 Pressure gauges and regulators: The system shall include two pressure gauges, one for the set pressure and another for the test pressure, to ensure accurate readings and reliable pressure control.
2.4 Accessories: The system shall include accessories such as adjustable orifices, gate valves, pilot valves, and other devices necessary to adjust the flow rates and perform other tests.
3. Test Procedure
3.1 Set-up Procedure: The test apparatus shall be set up in accordance with the instructions for the specific test.
3.2 Flow measurement: The test valve shall be tested for the flow rate at various pressures and flowrates in accordance with the prescribed procedures. The test shall include measuring the flow rate, pressure drop, and pressure ratio. The test must be in accordance with the performance requirements of the specific flow control valve.
3.3 Pressure control: The pressure shall be controlled by adjusting the set pressure at the control valve and by adjusting the set pressure at the pressure gauge before each test.
3.4 Test Data: The test data shall be recorded and documented at the completion of the test. The data must include the measured values of pressure, flow rate, and pressure ratio.
4. Documentation
The test results shall be documented and reported to the customer in accordance with the requirements of the customer. The report shall include a detailed description of the test procedure and its results.
5. Safety
The safety of personnel and equipment involved in the testing procedure shall be considered first and foremost. Adequate safety equipment must be worn and used whenever the testing procedure produces hazardous conditions.
This test method provides guidance on the testing of flow control valves and is particularly applicable to testing performance characteristics related to their flow characteristics. This test method is suitable for use in the petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries where precise control of flow is important. The test method is designed to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results with respect to their flow characteristics under different flow conditions. By following this test method, it is possible to obtain reliable and repeatable results that are useful in selecting the right flow control valve to meet particular parameters of the system.
