Five ways to troubleshoot the flameout while driving

(1)Check the spark plugs: As with most cars, the spark plugs in your car will often provide an early warning of any failure and misfiring. Spark plugs are responsible for providing the spark and energy that your engine needs to fire and so any failure here can lead to your engine stopping on you. If you have ever had to check out your spark plugs then all you need to do is take them out, check them and clean them if they have any residue on them.

(2)Look for vacuum leaks: Vacuum leaks can also be a cause of engine stalling and so it is important that you check your vacuum hoses for any suspicious signs of wear and tear. Some vacuum hoses can become brittle and can crack, letting in air and thus making your engine idle roughly and misfire, leading to the engine getting turned off.

(3)Inspect the fuel system: The fuel system of your car is also important and you should inspect it thoroughly to make sure everything is in check. The fuel injectors, the fuel filter and the fuel pressure all need to be checked to make sure the fuel system is working. These can all be checked with the help of your local mechanic and can cause the engine to stall if not in proper condition.

(4)Change the air filter: Your air filter is responsible for providing clean air to your engine and hence needs to be replaced every few thousand miles. The air filter needs to be changed often as it can get clogged up with dust and dirt, thus leading to a reduction in the amount of air that reaches your engine, which in turn can lead to an engine stalling.

(5)Check the ignition system: Finally, the ignition system is the one responsible for providing your engine with the spark it needs. If the spark is weak or nonexistent, then the engine will not start. You should check the spark plugs and the spark plug wire, which can both fail and cause your engine to stop. Also, the ignition coil and spark advance system should also be checked.

These five methods should be enough to help you identify and troubleshoot any issues that you may have when your engine stops on you. By regularly checking these parts of your car and getting your car serviced regularly, you should be able to enjoy many years of trouble-free driving.
