内容 标题:The Structure of Chinas Foreign Trade Goods
Over the past decade, Chinas foreign trade has developed rapidly, and foreign trade has become an important part of Chinas economic growth. The structure of Chinas foreign trade goods has also undergone substantial changes in recent years.
In 2009, the main focus of Chinas foreign trade goods was light industrial products and labor-intensive products. These products accounted for more than 57% of the total foreign trade goods. Electrical and mechanical products were the second largest component of the countrys foreign trade goods with a share of 19.6%, followed by chemicals and related products with 13.5%. The remaining 9.9% of Chinas foreign trade goods share was accounted by commodities such as raw materials and foodstuffs.
In the current structure of Chinas foreign trade goods, however, the emphasis has shifted from light industrial products to electrical and mechanical products. In 2018, electrical and mechanical products accounted for 40.6% of the total foreign trade goods, while light industrial products only accounted for 25.7%. Commodities accounted for 13.2% of the total foreign trade goods value, followed by chemicals and related products with 11.4%.
In addition to the structural changes, Chinas foreign trade goods are also showing signs of transformation from a low-valued to a medium-valued and high-valued product structure. In 2009, the value of low-valued product foreign trade goods was up to 78.9%, while the value of medium-valued product foreign trade goods was only 8.4%. By 2018, the value of medium and high-valued product foreign trade goods had increased to 32.1% and 31.7% respectively, while the value of low-valued product foreign trade goods had decreased to 41%.
The increase in the value of medium and high-valued product foreign trade goods reflects the continuous transformation and upgrading of Chinas foreign trade goods. This reflects the governments efforts to promote high-end manufacturing and service industry development. As a result, the structure of Chinas foreign trade goods has also gradually moved away from labor-intensive products towards value-added goods and services.
In conclusion, due to the transformation and upgrading of Chinas economic structure, the structure of Chinas foreign trade goods has also undergone substantial changes in the past decade. The emphasis has shifted from light industrial products to electrical and mechanical products, and the value of medium and high-valued product foreign trade goods has increased significantly. These changes reflect the governments efforts to promote high-end manufacturing and service industry development, and China’s foreign trade goods structure is likely to continue to evolve in the years to come.
