The General Requirements for Finishing of Wire Products
Wire products are essential commodities used for industry, construction, agriculture and other fields and occupy an important position in metal processing industry. However, some wire products fail to meet the requirements for use due to improper processing, which are mainly reflected in the surface defect of the wire and the cross section of the wire. This article will discuss the general requirements for finishing of wire products.
Wire products are all metal products with different strength through cold drawing and cold rolling of steel, stainless steel, nonferrous metal and other materials. The traditional toothed and heat treatment process of wire products is directly related to the service life and performance of wire products. Wire products should be finished after cold drawing and cold rolling, so as to improve their performance, toughness and service life.
The finishing of wire products has three parts: surface finishing, cross section and edge. The requirements of surface finishing mainly include surface quality and surface treatment of wire products.
The surface requirements of wire products include surface finish, surface gloss, surface defect, cleanliness and surface chromatic aberration. The surface finish of wire is mainly based on the use requirements. Generally, the surface finish is divided into two categories, bright and matte. The surface gloss of wire should be selected according to the customers actual use requirements, and should not exceed the agreed requirements. Surface defects of wire should not exceed the prescribed limit, and the total area of surface defects should not exceed the prescribed limit. Large defects with depth greater than 0.3mm are not allowed on the surface of wire products. In addition, the surface cleanliness and chromatic aberration should also meet the requirements.
There are also requirements for the cross section of the wire. The wire should be uniform in cross section, and the size and shape of the cross section should meet the technical requirements. The edge of the wire should be free of burrs and meet the technical requirements.
The requirement of surface treatment of wire products mainly includes corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The corrosion resistance requirement of wire product surface mainly depends on the usage environment, usually with rust test and salt spray test. Rust test mainly simulates the long-term effect of natural environment on the product, mainly used for surface treatment of products used in outdoor environment. The salt spray test simulates the short-term effect of corrosive gas and hydrochloric acid in aqueous environment on the product. It is mainly used to determine the corrosion resistance of products used in coastal areas and chemical plants.
The wear resistance requirement of wire product surface mainly depends on the use environment and the abrasion medium. It mainly includes scratch test and hardness test. The scratch test can simulate the friction between the wire and other products, and the hardness test can simulate the influence of hard foreign matters on the surface of the wire to obtain its wear resistance.
In the finishing of wire products, the inspection and test of the product shall be carried out after the acceptance. Through the above discussion, we can see that there are many general requirements for finishing of wire products, which should be strictly implemented and well controlled in the production process. Only in this way can we ensure the safe and reliable use of wire products.
