The application of 38CrSi alloy structural steel is extensive, which can be used in various engineering structures, such as rod, frame, beam and so on. This kind of structural steel not only offers good comprehensive mechanical properties, but also has good hardenability, which can be used to produce various molds and dies with complex shape and size.

The alloying elements comprises of 0.37-0.44% of C, 0.17-0.37% of Si, 0.80-1.20% of Cr, and 0.15-0.30% of Mn. The main purpose of alloying elements is to improve the machinability, plasticity and toughness of the steel, as well as the ability to resist deformation.

The mechanical properties for 38CrSi alloy structural steel are as follows: the tensile strength is not less than 550 MPa, the yield strength is not less than 350MPa and the elongation is not less than 10%. The hardness of 38CrSi alloy structural steel is 148-207HB, its impact toughness is greater than 32 J and its impact elongation is greater than 11%.

In order to make the 38CrSi alloy structural steel having excellent performance and to prevent the occurrence of cracks and cavitation, it needs to use high grade raw materials, strictly inspected raw materials, strict control of smelting technical conditions, as well as various high level processes of heat treatment, such as quenching, tempering, annealing, etc.
