I. Introduction

GB 16808-1997 Gas Detector Control Technical Requirements and Test Methods is formulated to regulate the quality and performance of the gas detector control. The standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and test items of the gas detector control. This standards also applies to remote controllers and hosts for gas detector controls.

II. Technical Requirements

The gas detector controls shall meet the following requirements:

1. The structure, shape and performance of the gas detector control shall meet the design specifications.

2. The surface of the gas detector control shall be smooth and free of any scratches or burrs; and the case shall be free of rust, paint chipping and fading.

3. The gas detector controls shall be equipped with safety protections, such as overpressure, temperature and power-failure, to protect the device and personnel.

4. All parts and components of the gas detector control shall not be affected by corrosion or affected by humidity.

5. The gas detector control shall be able to detect the concentration levels of combustible gases, smoke and oxygen in the environment and to output corresponding signals.

6. The signal output of the gas detector control shall be correctly indicated.

7. The sensitivity and response time of the detector shall meet the specified requirements.

8. The gas detector control shall be able to open or close the alarm output signal in response to the concentration of combustible gases and/or smoke in the environment.

9. The gas detector control shall be capable of storing the preset values of the gas concentration, safety time-delay and light-control parameters.

10. The anti-intervention capacity of the gas detector control shall meet the specified requirements.

11. The indicators of the gas detector control shall be clear, visible and recognizable; and the fire alarm controllers shall be able to provide multiple alarm signals and display the alarm point.

12. The gas detector control shall be able to connect with the fire alarm systems (including remote controllers) equipped with automatic supplication systems.

13. The temperature, electricity and other types of safety detecting instruments of the gas detector control shall be accurate and stable.

14. The power supply of the gas detector control shall meet the requirements specified in the standards and user manuals.

15. The installation surface of the gas detector control shall be solid, level and clean; and the bearings shall have anti-vibration capacity.

16. All the joints and connections of the gas detector control shall be secure and have good contact performance.

III. Test Methods

The tests for the gas detector controls shall be conducted according to the following procedures:

1. Appearance Inspection

The appearance inspection shall be conducted to inspect the external structure, paint finish, welding, surface finishes and other aspects of the gas detector control.

2. Electrical Performance Test

The electrical performance test shall be conducted to check the functionality of the gas detector control, such as response time and sensitivity.

3. Temperature Test

The temperature test shall be conducted to check the accuracy of the temperature indicators, such as the temperature sensor, thermo-couple and thermostat.

4. Power Test

The power test shall be conducted to check the accuracy and stability of the power supply of the gas detector control.

5. Installation Test

The installation test shall be conducted to check the installation surface and the mounting position of the gas detector controls.

6. Resistance Test

The resistance test shall be conducted to check the insulation performance of the joints and connections of the gas detector control.

7. Radiation Test

The radiation test shall be conducted to check the amount of radiation of the gas detector control.

8. Safety Test

The safety test shall be conducted to check the safe performance of the gas detector control, such as creepage and insulation performance.

IV. Conclusion

GB 16808-1997 Gas Detector Control Technical Requirements and Test Methods is formulated to regulate the quality and performance of the gas detector control. The standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and test items of the gas detector control. This standard also applies to remote controllers and hosts for gas detector controls.
