Structure and Performance of Five Major Types of Bearings in Plastic Machinery
The main component of plastic machinery is bearings, it is the support and transmission component of the mechanical parts, in plastic machinery bearing according to their structure, it can be divided into five types: deep groove ball bearing, angular contact bearing, cylindrical roller bearing, spherical roller bearing, and needle bearing.
Deep groove ball bearings are the most commonly used and widely available type in plastic machinery, these bearings are composed of inner rings, outer rings and balls. Its characteristics are simple structure, low manufacturing cost and high transmission efficiency. It can support both radial load and axial load, but the radial load should not exceed 55% of the axial load.
The angular contact bearing is composed of an inner ring, an outer ring, rolling elements and cage. The structure of the rolling element is a single row of angular contact ball bearings, a double row of angular contact ball bearings, three single row angular contact ball bearings and four row angular contact ball bearings. It has higher stiffness, stronger carrying capacity, higher rotation accuracy and better heat dissipation performance. Angular contact bearings are mainly used for low speed, low noise and high precision plastic machinery.
Cylindrical roller bearings are composed of inner ring and outer ring and cage. The structure of the rolling element consists of cylindrical rollers. It has large load capacity and can withstand both radial load and axial load, but it can only withstand one-way axial load. In addition, cylindrical roller bearing has good stability, and can adapt to high-speed rotating environment.
Spherical roller bearings have higher load bearing capacity compared with the cylindrical roller bearing, because the centre of its rolling element is the same as the centre of the inner and outer rings, so it can bear large radial & axial loads and impacts. It is mainly used in medium-high speed plastic machinery and can reduce vibration and noise.
The structure of needle bearing is composed of an inner ring, an outer ring, a rolling element and cage. The structure of the rolling element is a single row of cylindrical rollers and a double row of cylindrical rollers. It is widely used in plastic machinery because it is thin and light, small radial size and high precision.
Conclusion
In short, the five kinds of bearings mentioned above have different structures, but there are also many common points. For example, all five kinds of bearings can bear radial load and axial load, according to their own characteristics, they are suitable for different speed, noise, precision and other requirements of plastic machinery. In selecting bearings, it is necessary to consider the work process and make the best choice for the application.
Finally, it is necessary to refer to professional bearings operation instructions before use, observe the replacement cycle of the bearing and keep clean during operation, so as to better maintain the use life of the bearing.
