China High Speed Tool Steel

China High Speed Tool Steel (HSTS) is a special type of steel used in a broad range of industrial applications. It is particularly suitable for cutting tools, dies and other wear-resistant components requiring a high degree of hardness and toughness. HSTS is characterised by a high carbon content and a relatively low alloy content. It is able to achieve a high wear resistance in combination with a low friction coefficient.

HSTS is widely used in the manufacture of tools and components for a variety of industries, such as automotive, aerospace and defence, machine tools, medical and electronics. It is also commonly found in instruments used in the oil and gas sectors.

When selecting High Speed Tool Steel (HSTS) for any application, it is important to consider the hardness and wear resistance requirements of the component and the service condition of the application. For example, a component subjected to wear-sensitive applications at higher speeds, like a drill bit, will require a more wear resistant HSTS grade than one subjected to a lower speed but higher force.

HSTS also needs to be properly heat-treated for maximum performance in a range of operating conditions. Depending on the specific grade of HSTS, the heat treating process may involve hardening and tempering, or some other form of heat treatment to produce a desired microstructure and mechanical properties.

In addition to the standard grades of HSTS, many specialty grades are available, such as powder metallurgy HSTS, which offers even higher impact resistance than standard HSTS. Other specialty grades include ultra-high speed tool steel and tungsten-cobalt-vanadium HSTS, which is an excellent alternative to standard HSTS when high wear resistance is required. Other grades of HSTS are available that offer good corrosion resistance and temperature resistance, such as M2, M10 and TDM7.

High Speed Tool Steel is widely used in everyday industrial applications due to its high wear resistance, toughness and ability to maintain its properties in a variety of operating conditions. It is a cost-effective material for cutting tools and other components that require a high degree of hardness and toughness.
