Urban ecological environment quality assessment

In recent years, peoplehave been increasingly aware of the destructive impact of human activities on theenvironments, and the importance of maintaining a healthy environment. Therefore,it is of great importance to assess the quality of the environment in cities tominimize the impact of human activities. This paper will focus on assessingecological environment quality in cities. Generally, the assessment covers landresources quality, air quality, water quality, and noise evaluation, etc.

Land resources qualityassessment focuses on whether the main land function of the city has beeneffectively realized. In terms of nature resources, the assessment shouldinclude the illegal practices of exploiting wildlife, grass and land resources. Inthe aspects of urban land, the evaluation should include the rational allocationof land and its impact on urban economic and social development, as well as theregulation of land use and the decrease of urban areas. Besides, it is alsoimportant to assess whether the government puts enough investment on protectinggreen space and wetland and paying attention to the prevention and control ofsoil pollution.

The assessment on air qualityincludes the level of city air and the sources of air pollution. The evaluationwould be based on the concentration of sulfur dioxide, soot, carbon monoxide, and other pollutants, as well as the index of visibility, odor and color, inorder to determine whether the air quality of the city has reached thestandards. In terms of the source of air pollution, the assessment shouldinclude whether the emission of air pollutants is limited, as well as whetherthe government has taken measure to reduce the vehicle exhaust emission andindustry pollution.

The assessment of waterquality should include the evaluation on the water source and the waterenvironment, just to make sure water quality in the city meets the standards. Inregard to water source, the assessment should include the classification ofwater source, the water-saving level and the rate of recycling wastewater. Thewater environment assessment should include the evaluation of the waste waterdischarging and its impact on water resources, and also the prevention andcontrol of aquatic ecosystem pollution.

The assessment of noiselevel is also crucial because the excessive noise levels can create anuncomfortable environment to public. The assessment should include themeasurement and evaluation of the noise in the resident areas, public places, and industrial areas, in order to identify the sources of noise and come up withmeasures to reduce the noise, like establishing noise control areas and addinggreenbelts.

In conclusion, assessingthe ecological environment quality in cities is of great importance for theprotection of environment and the sustainable development of cities. Itinvolves various aspects like land resources quality, air quality, water qualityand noise evaluation. The evaluation should be precision and comprehensive, andthe corresponding measures should be taken to protect the ecological environment.
