A Pause to reflect
We are all running around in circles, from one task to the next and from one meeting to the next, living our lives in a bubble of unreality. But when does one stop to pause and reflect on what it is all for? Why live a life in the pursuit of the un-pursuable? When do we stop and take a moment to reflect on the bigger picture, on what the world around us is made of and how it affects us?
It is a simple yet profound question, one that requires us to step outside of the bubble and pause in order to appreciate the person or thing that is right in front of us. The power of that pause, that moment of clarity and appreciation, is often lost in the daily grind as we become so focused on the task at hand that we forget to take a step back and appreciate the beauty of what we already have.
Finding time to pause and reflect on our lives should be one of our core values. We should take time each and every day to pause and reflect, to ponder the big questions and savor the small joys that come with life. When we pause we get a chance to reconnect with ourselves, to recognize our innermost thoughts and feelings, and to reset our inner compass and course of action according to our newfound knowledge.
When we pause, we also reconnect with our environment. We can be mindful of the birds and the animals, the trees and the plants, the natural elements and the earth that sustains us. We take in the beauty of nature and acknowledge its significance in our lives; we become aware of how our actions affect the world around us and we are reminded of the interdependence we share with it.
When we pause and reflect, our senses become sharper and we can see things more clearly. We can appreciate the beauty that surrounds us, comprehend life’s intricate details, and understand the deeper meaning of our existence. We can live with awareness and fully appreciate the things that often go unnoticed in the chaos and noise of modern life.
Pause and reflect each morning before you start your day, and you will be surprised at how your perspective changes throughout it. Notice how that extra moment of clarity can make you look at life differently and how it affects your decisions and decisions. Take a few moments of reflection during the course of the day and you will realize how much it matters in making our lives meaningful and peaceful.
Pause to reflect. Silence your inner haste and find space to be mindful and grateful. Be present in your life, pause and recognize the beauty and wonder around you, and ponder the relevance of your life and how it affects others. If you can pause to reflect each day, you will find that your outlook on life will be brighter and your understanding deeper.
