Danan County

Danan County is a county located in the western part of Guizhou Province, southwest China. It is under the administration of the Tongren City, and is bordered by Liupanshui to the east, Sinan to the south, and Guangnan and Jinping Counties to the north and west, respectively. Danan County covers an area of approximately 2,538 square kilometers and has a population of about 320,000.

The county is situated in an area of rugged mountains and valleys, with an average elevation of 1000 meters above sea level. The landscape is made of hills and mountains, with a few flat areas that are cultivated for farming and ranching, making Danan an ideal place for adventure and exploration.

The county is home to many national minorities, who maintain their own cultures, customs, languages, and beliefs. Over 18% of the county population are ethnic minorities, including Miao, Ge, Yi, Gelao, Tujia, Buyi and Zhuang, each with its own customs and traditions.

Religious beliefs vary in the county, with Buddhists constituting the most significant population.Taoism, Christianity and Islam are also significant. There are many important religions sites throughout Danan, such as the Heavenly King Temple and the White Cloud Temple.

The economy of Danan is largely agricultural, and produces both grain and cash crops. The main crops grown in Danan are rice, wheat, corn, and tobacco, as well as medicinal herbs and herbal teas, which have been grown in the area for centuries.

In recent years, Danan has experienced rapid economic growth, due largely to the development of transport infrastructure, particularly the signing of the Tongren-to-Chengdu Intercity Expressway in 2009 and the opening of the Tongren Airport in 2011. This has made the county more accessible than ever before, and has further stimulated economic growth.

The county also boasts a number of other attractions, including the Miao Minority Museum and the Mid-Autumn Gourd Art Museum, the latter exhibiting some of the most beautiful examples of gourd art from all over the world. As one of the most important tea producing regions, Nandan County has more than 20 tea factories, which produce a variety of products. Nandan is renowned for its time-honored handmade tea products, such as Nandan Red Tea and Nandan Bi Luo, which are renowned for their lovely aroma and delightful flavor.

Nandan County is a place with unique customs and vibrant cultural activities. It boasts grand festivals, such as the National Day Festival, Water-splashing Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival, where unique customs and traditional cultures of Nandan people can be experienced.
