Moderate and Cold Weather Clothing
During cold and moderate weather, it is important to dress appropriately to keep your body warm. When it is cold, this means layering your clothes so that the moisture from sweating does not make you feel cold. For moderate harsh weather, choose fabrics that keep you dry, helping to prevent you from feeling chilled. Here are some tips on choosing the right type of clothing for moderate and cold weather.
When it is cold outside, the first layer of clothing should be something like a thermal top and bottoms, made out of soft and comfortable fabric like merino wool. Merino wool has many advantages; it is lightweight, breathable, soft, warm and comfortable. The second layer of clothing should be a light, yet insulating outer layer like a down coat or a lightweight fleece. The third layer should be a good windproof and waterproof outer layer, like a windbreaker or a heavy parka for more extreme conditions.
For moderate weather, you still want to layer your clothes, but the layers need to be more breathable and lighter than the ones used for cold weather. Start with a light and breathable fabric like cotton or linen. Follow it up with a light insulation layer, like a thin fleece or wool sweater and then finish with a windproof and waterproof jacket or coat.
You should complement your clothing with the right types of accessories. Choose a headband or hat made of a warm and breathable fabric like wool or fleece to keep your ears and your head warm. A good pair of earmuffs or a wool scarf can be used over your jacket to protect your neck from the wind. Also wear good gloves or mittens made of warm and waterproof fabrics for your hands. Lined waterproof boots are ideal to keep your feet warm and protected from wet and cold weather.
When going outside in either moderate or cold weather, wear a good-fitting outfit that allows good mobility. Make sure that the clothing fits you well and does not restrict your movements; this will let you stay warm and comfortable. Make sure to wear clothes that you are comfortable in and that are made with fabric that breathes, so you dont get too hot and sweaty or cold. Finally, dont forget to layer your clothes, no matter the weather.
