China Nonmetallic Mining Industry Association
The China Nonmetallic Mining Industry Association (CNMI) is a nationwide Association of non-metallic mineral industry miners, producers, processors, and related industries. The Association promotes the development of the non-metallic mineral mines and processing industries in China, including technical development and training, environmental protection and conservation, as well as research regarding non-metallic mineral resources.
The CNMI is based in Datong City and holds a weekly meeting on the China Nonmetallic Mining Industry Association campus. These meetings cover topics such as existing regulations, research results, and technological advancements in the industry, as well as other relevant topics. The Association also holds bi-annual conventions both in China and abroad, in which companies and people in the Industry can exhibit their products and services.
The CNMI was founded in 2003 and currently comprises 97 member companies and various other stakeholders in the non-metallicmining industry, ranging from miners, producers and processors. The number of members is expected to grow in the years to come as the non-metallic mineral industry expands.
At present, the most important fields in which the CNMI is active in are:
* Technical development and training,
* Environmental protection and conservation,
* Research and development,
* Promotion of efficient and safe production,
* Lobby work and advocacy,
* Outreach and communication with the public,
* International cooperation.
In terms of technical development and training, the CNMI provides necessary training and knowledge to members of the non-metallic mining industry, including mining engineers, chemical engineers, technicians and managers. The non-metallic mining industry often relies on complex technology, and the CNMI is dedicated to ensuring that workers in that industry have access to the most up-to-date techniques and information.
In terms of environmental protection, the CNMI focuses on minimizing the impact of the industry on surrounding environment. This includes promoting the use of more efficient technologies, developing effective measures for the remediation of contaminated sites, promoting the reuse of recycled materials, and improving waste management practices.
The CNMI also advocates for improved regulations in the industry, and works on policies that improve the safety of mining operations, improve the use of resources, and improve the competitiveness of Chinese companies in the global market for nonmetallic mining products.
Overall, the China Nonmetallic Mining Industry Association plays a key role in supporting the development of the non-metallic mining industry in China. Its activities extend beyond the industry itself to reach the public, providing guidance on how to use the Earth’s natural resources more efficiently and sustainably, promoting the importance of environmental protection and conservation, and helping industry members develop safe and efficient practices.
