Moulding
Moulding is a fundamental technique used in manufacturing and has been in human society since its first occurrence. Compression moulding is similar, however instead of a heated material, a piece of metal or metal-plated materials are heated, and then pressed into a mould. This process creates extremely detailed and complex shapes without the need for a large quantity of equipment.
The metal mould used in both injection and compression moulding is created using a metal die. This die is made using a process known as die casting, in which a metal material is melted and then poured into a mould. This metal mould is then used to shape various materials. With the right equipment and a high level of skill, almost any shape can be designed.
